Transport Minister, Maharashtra
Born on 25th April 1964 in Wardha, Mr. Pratap Sarnaik is a seasoned politician with a career spanning over three decades. He began his political journey in 1995 through student unions and has since held numerous key positions in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
He served as a Member of the Thane Municipal Transport Committee (1992–1997), and from 1997 to 2008, was elected thrice as a Corporator in the Thane Municipal Corporation. His leadership extended to state housing and urban planning as a member of Konkan MHADA (1997) and MMRDA (2009).
Mr. Sarnaik was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2009 from the 146 Ovala Majiwada constituency and has since been re-elected in 2014, 2019, and 2024. In 2020, he was appointed as the official spokesperson of Shiv Sena and currently serves as the Transport Minister of Maharashtra. In 2025, he was also appointed Guardian Minister of Dharashiv District and Shiv Sena Liaison Minister for Palghar and Solapur districts, and took charge as Chairman of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
A dedicated public servant, Mr. Sarnaik is widely recognized for his consistent contributions to Maharashtra’s urban development, transportation, and public welfare.
